Rest
Rest. It’s so important for our mind, our body, and our soul. I find myself in the middle of a season of unrest. Nothing as life-altering as last summer, but just a going, going, going that hasn’t seemed to end for a few months now. Lots of good things. Serving others through divorce ministry. Fellowship with amazing friends. Quality time with family. Amazing adventures.
But then there were the birthdays that rolled into holidays, the draining from a relationship I poured into and got very little back in return, some physically and emotionally exhausting travel… it has all finally caught up. This past Friday I was at the bus stop with my sister and told her I needed a break. I was feeling the need to hit the pause button for a bit.
I remember a message at church last year about rest, and the pastor said that God will give you hints you need to slow down. And if you don’t take the hint, he will force your hand. Well, God laid me flat on my back!
And in true, stubborn, Taurus fashion, I got up and kept going. Hahaha
So, instead of taking the hint… I wound up learning I was COVID positive hours away from home in the middle of nowhere on a dogsled excursion. Note the frozen hand from waiting in a 10 degree Walgreens parking lot for the rapid test results all while trying to hold off a panic attack. Side note: praises for finding a test in Cloquet, MN at 8pm!! The hotel even allowed me to SEE the message. Fine, God, fine!!!
I’ve been in bed most of the day today feeling horrible, but I got some work done.
Any island recommendations for drinks with umbrellas and toes in the sand?! I probably need a whole week!
ALSO… is it ironic that I wrote most of this post in the bathtub?! Multitasking always. The rest will come…
