Embrace the Suck
That’s a term used by the military and my best-friend-who-doesn’t-know-me, Brené Brown. It’s a good reminder that when times are tough, or complicated, that at some level we have to make the most of where we are.
As humans we do not like discomfort. I think that it’s so easy to wish our way out of a non-ideal situation, that we often miss the beauty and lessons that can come within it. We are sometimes willing to make not-great (or even bad) decisions to change when things are not as we had hoped or planned for.
Am I saying to just accept what life deals you and give up trying? Absolutely not.
I’m saying that while you are patient and discerning and forming a plan, you should identify the blessings and opportunities in your current position and it might lessen your stress and striving and give you a new perspective.
I believe that God is most easily seen in our trials if we have the stillness and eyes to see Him. “Be still, and know that I am God” Psalm 46:10. He provides opportunity to grow & repair relationships, deepen faith, and experience the fruits of the spirit, as He creates beauty within brokenness. I believe that HIS solution and plan for us is always better than OUR solution, so sometimes we just need to get out of our own way.
